Even after witnessing alkaline's surprising spike in his performing capabilities (See here) and outstanding performances by different artistes as well, it's still nevertheless safe to mention that one of the greatest performances at this year's Reggae Sumfest is that of mavado's
Since the second mavado took the stage till he left, there was no trace of a dull moment throughout the entirety of his rather lively, enormously dynamic overall performance. He continuously swayed the audience with his infectious contemporary hits and also spreading nostalgia, taking the patrons back to his early 2000s classics.
The "Caribbean Girls" singer revealed how formidable and unpredictable he can be, dropping a huge bombshell while he decided to fire at Popcaan bluntly, "Diss dem the real way and dem cant defend it", then sending a shout-out to his arch-rival of ages, the "Controversy Master", Vybz Kartel
This was certainly an unexpected move by way of the "Gully Gad" as he and the "Wor'l Boss" has been feuding for some months now. The feud which was stirred up through a line ("Portmore say fi step pass the Father and murder the son" that Mavado stated in his "Diss" tune aimed at Popcaan, "dem run een". To which Vybz Kartel clapped back with "Step".
(Mavado and alkaline sharing a recent performance)
After Mavado's overall performance ended he later returned to the stage for a short duration of alkaline's set to guest-perform a few of their collaborative songs together. The concert carried on as other large acts came on, which includes masicka who was fortunately able to perform after altercations had been made to his time of performance
