Adidja (Vybz Kartel) Palmer is a Dancehall/Reggae singer and songwriter with a net worth estimated to be over $5.5 million (over 700 Million JMD). Kartel has acquired his net worth from him performing his music, online music sales, his wildly successful DJ/Rap/Singing career and liquor line Named Street Vybz Rum. He was also said to be planning to launch a cake soap condom and shoe line but was incarcerated before this came to be
Kartel, born in Kingston, Jamaica, grew up in the city of Portmore and started his musical escapades in 1993 while he was still a teenager. His first ever released single “Love Fat Woman” was published by One Heart, a record label owned by Alvin Reid. Kartel later joined a three-member group called “The Vybz Kartels”. Unfortunately, the group spit up shortly after, but Kartel who was called "Addi Banton" at the time, decided to keep the name but slightly altered it to become what it is today. Kartel has over 10 albums to date, some containing over three discs. Some of his albums, to name a few include “Kingston Story”, “Kartel Forever: Trilogy” and the latest released in 2016 titled "Viking (Vybz is King)" . He has probably the largest catelog of singles in Dancehall. He has done singles with a few of Hiphop's biggest names such as: Jayz and Pharrell and has appeared in quite a number of music videos with Busta Rhymes, Rihanna, and several other artistes.
Kartel also has his own record label, "Adidjahiem/Notnice Records" together with his former producer and business partner Ainsley “Notnice” Morris. He also had his own Reality TV Show "Teachas Pet", which aired shortly before he was arrested for a series of offenses in 2011
Kartel has remained incarcerated since and was tried and found guilty for conspiracy to murder in 2015 and was sentenced to 35 years without parol, but has still been able have a fruitful carreer from behind bars with big singles such as: "Level" produce by "Rvssian" of "Head Concussion Records" as recent as 2017 and has also mananged to have the #1 Reggae/Dancehall Album in 2016
